About ESIS

ESIS provides training, consultancy and inspection services across all curriculum areas and phases to support local authorities, schools and individuals and to ensure that all children and young people get the best education possible.

ESIS delivers up to 450 INSET training courses each academic year including twilight sessions, one day courses and larger conferences. All courses are designed to assist teachers with their personal development and with school improvement. They also provide a rare opportunity for teachers to network and share best practice within a growing knowledge base.

ESIS manages bespoke consultancy projects commissioned by local authorities and schools to deliver results specific to their needs. These assignments can last from one week to several months or years, depending on the requirement of the authority or school.

The advisory team at ESIS constantly strives to produce high quality resources for teachers; creating publications, classroom resources and training materials that help keep teachers up-to-date with the latest teaching methods and changes in the curriculum.

ESIS helps local authorities with school review and development. Our Link Advisers carry out annual performance reviews, departmental reviews, data research analysis, specialist subject advice and school intervention and support.

We also support local authorities with management support, providing guidance on headteacher and deputy headteacher appointments, personnel performance management, supervision of specific initiatives and administration of BSF funding.

Within the ESIS adviser team there are Estyn-approved, registered and accredited inspectors for all phases. This enables ESIS personnel to operate as Estyn-contracted inspectors thereby maintaining their skills and understanding of the systems by which schools and local authorities are publicly assessed.

ESIS operates and manages Tŷ Dysgu, a first class conference centre and training environment that provides quality facilities and surroundings. It is a 14-room venue centrally placed in Nantgarw, just outside Cardiff, with a full range of modern equipment and ICT infrastructure. It is available for hire by schools, local authorities and other public and private sector clients.
