Jane Houlihan

Jane Houlihan is the Adviser for Additional Learning Needs and is currently Link Adviser to all of the Special Schools and Pupil Referral Units across ESIS’s four Local Authorities.

For 18 years Jane taught in several large, London inner city Secondary Schools where she held a range of whole-school responsibilities including Support for Learning, SEN, SEBD and EAL provision. In Northern Ireland Jane took up a post of Pupil Support Officer responsible for Statutory Assessment. She was a member of the Northern Ireland Task Group on Autism and continues to have an interest in this area. Whilst in Northern Ireland, Jane also spent some time as temporary Head Teacher of an SEBD School.
Jane is an Estyn inspector and is qualified to inspect Special Schools and Pupil Referral Units. She is also a member of ADEW Inclusion and the SEN Advisers Group.
