Making the Links

Making the Links uses a thematic approach, demonstrating to schools how to cover the statutory requirements of the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum in a holistic way.

It comprises twelve ideas for themes: six for Lower Key Stage 2 and six for Upper Key Stage 2.  These themes offer a creative way to develop children’s knowledge, skills and understanding while motivating them to learn through stimulating, interconnected topics. Each of the themes covers a small number of curriculum subjects in detail as well as offers advice on incorporating additional subjects in less detail. Also included is guidance on including ESDGC, PSE and Cwricwlwm Cymreig.
