Focus for improvement
The school is working on the DCELLS project and focussing on determining success criteria, target setting and immediacy of feedback and using summative assessment formatively.

What we did
All staff have been made aware of the DCELLS project and the Principles of Thinking. Teachers from Nursery to year 6 have contributed to our school evidence base.
The Skills framework has been used to map out opportunities for activities that support determining success criteria and other Thinking principles taken from the OSAMs Thinking Skills pack.
We aim to ensure that the whole skills framework will be covered with at least one suggested context. The main curriculum area was English but all staff was able to extend the project into other curriculum areas.

What were the outcomes?
The whole school have been involved in the project. Activities used showed that there is considerable overlap with other principles
in the framework.

Evidence
Pupils work has been collected in preparation for making a school Thinking skills portfolio.
Learners from year 6 were involved in discussion with an ESIS advisor. They recognised that they were learning in a different way. They appreciated the structure given to their thinking by the use of frameworks. They understood the term thinking skills and the key terminology and were able to transfer their skills into other curriculum areas.
Pupils enjoyed peer assessment and were able to accept criticism and ideas for their way forward. Pupils were also able to generate and justify success criteria
