What was the focus for improvement?
• Improved levels of collaborative learning within the class.
• Develop the pupils group presentation skills.

What did we do?
• Diamond ranking activity to decide upon what makes a quality presentation.
• Placemat activity to find useful information on Victorian childhood.
• The pupils used this information to create their own group presentations.
• The presentations were practiced and performed for the class.

What were the outcomes?
• The pupils responded well to the group work approach and gained a great deal of information from the sources provided.
• The groups worked really well together to produce quality presentations that were all vastly different from one another.
• Improved socialisation within the groups.

What evidence have we collected to demonstrate improvements?
• The improvements can be seen from the video evidence.

What have we learnt about teaching practice and pupils learning?
• A group collaboration approach allowed for all pupils to be involved in this topic. Following the presentations the pupils had a strong understanding of all aspects of Victorian childhood and not just the aspect they were presenting.

What we aim to do next
I aim to use this approach to many aspects of my teaching, to use more collaborative learning strategies and to allow the pupils to devise their own presentations at the end of topics as a form of assessment.
