1. What was the focus for improvement?

Developing writing and making animations.

2. What did we do?

The story of The Storm of Cantre Gwaelod was used as a stimulus. After reading the story, a series of scanned images was used for pupils to sequence the main events in the story.

For each image/scene chosen the pupils picked out the main events under the headings

  • Location
  • Plot
  • Characters
  • Stage direction and sound

These were then used for pupils to create their own

3. What were the outcomes?

Improved narrative writing and poetry.

4. What evidence have we collected to demonstrate improvements?

Pupils' work - narrative writing and metaphor poems.

5. What have we learnt about teaching practice and pupils learning?

Using sequencing as a tool to develop critical thinking and communication skills.

6. What we aim to do next

Create live animations in ICT
