News » Lessons from Auschwitz Project Wales – March 2010

02 February 2010

In 2009, the Welsh Assembly Government announced funding for the Holocaust Educational Trust to support its Lessons from Auschwitz Project. The funding has enabled the Trust to facilitate visits to Auschwitz for two post-16 students from every school in Wales.

The Lessons from Auschwitz Project consists of:

• A half-day seminar where participants learn about pre-war Jewish life, hear a Holocaust survivor speak of their experiences and meet their group to prepare for their visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau.

• A one-day visit to Poland.

• A half-day seminar enabling participants to reflect on their experiences, consider the contemporary lessons of the Holocaust and discuss and devise practical ideas for passing on these lessons.

The dates for the Wales project are:
• Orientation seminar: 7th March
• Visit to Poland: 11th March
• Follow up seminar: 23rd March
