Our dedicated statistician provides a number of services to Local Authorities and schools.
Annual Performance Review (Primary) & Annual Data Analysis Review (Secondary)
Each year ESIS collates and analyses your school’s National Curriculum Assessment Data, which you are required to upload to the Welsh Assembly Government website in the summer months. Using this data, which ranges from baseline assessment in primary schools, to external exam results for Secondary Schools, we provide schools with Analysis Packs.
These packs include comparisons of current and past performance (where applicable) in several areas: general trends in performance, gender performance, subject performance, WAG benchmarking, local authority averages and national averages, drawing comparisons as appropriate.
The packs are distributed in the Autumn Term via your Link Adviser.
Baseline Assessment
ESIS currently operates one of the nationally accredited Baseline Assessment Schemes in Primary Schools.
Every school is required to assess their pupils within the first six weeks of them reaching reception age, uploading results via a secure website directly to ESIS at the beginning of the Autumn Term.
In the second half of the autumn term, we analyse this information to help schools understand the abilities of the new intake of pupils. The comparisons include gender and areas of learning.
Fischer Family Trust
ESIS operates as a link between secondary schools and the Fischer Family Trust, which offers estimates of performance and value added analysis for secondary schools, based on National Curriculum assessment data. This information aids schools to set their own targets for the year(s) ahead.
WJEC / WED
ESIS operates as a link between secondary schools and the WJEC / WED, who offer value added analysis for schools based on external examination data. It enables schools to compare themselves nationally at specific subject levels.
Consultancy
ESIS offers a consultancy service to our four local authorities and their schools and continuously works on bespoke projects to meet local or specific needs. For example, helping heads of departments analyse the data available for their specific subject or offering senior management training on how best to use statistics.
If you want to find out more about how our consultancy service can help your school, please contact Caryl Stokes, by email caryl.stokes@esis.org.uk or tel: 01443 827564.
