This project has enabled primary teachers and support staff to focus on raising the level of oracy skills of all their children, but particularly the underachieving boys.

Teachers and many LSAs from Edwardsville Primary (KS2), Heolgerrig Primary, St. Mary’s R.C. Primary, Trelewis Primary, Y.G.G. Rhyd-y-Grug attended a day’s training at ESIS in September 2008, led by the English advisory team, where a focus on teaching and learning of presentation skills and group work were explored. Staff returned to their schools with an extended repertoire of teaching and learning strategies and activities to enhance their classroom practice.

The attached samples give just a glimpse of a few activities and responses from children, which have been generated through excellent cross-curricular oracy activity. The PowerPoint attached created by Sharon Hedges of Y.G.G. Rhyd-y-Grug, demonstrates the excellent work of staff and pupils in the school.
