This is a useful presentation that can be used for Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils. There is a brief overview of a selection of smart materials that are reasonably priced, and can be used within typical design technology activities.
National Curriculum revised orders (2008) for Design and Technology state:
- pupils should be given opportunities
- be aware of current developments in materials technology, e.g. 'smart' materials.
The presentation can be enhanced considerably by the addition of photographs / exemplars / examples of everyday use.
