This GCSE unit from Cyfarthfa High School in Merthyr Tydfil, is based on natural forms. Students were given the brief of producing headgear based on their investigations of natural forms such as flowers, seed pods, shells etc. Students produced detailed observational studies and experimented with a variety of materials and techniques. For contextual references students studied masks from various cultures and historical periods. For their final outcomes students manipulated various materials and techniques before embellishing their creations with found objects and decorative items.
